Modern English Literature is a one-semester course designed for the college-bound student.  It encompasses literature from the Neo-Classical, Romantic, Victorian, Modern, and Contemporary periods of British literature.  Course readings may include selections from such masters as Jonathan Swift, Robert Burns, William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, John Keats, Mary Shelley, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Matthew Arnold, Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, Charles D'ckens, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Dylan Thomas, D. H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and William Golding.  Course readings will also include historical information from the eighteenth century to the present as it relates to the literary texts.
