This course is an overview of the study of living things.

The class will take familiar concepts and expand upon them by using relevant and real life experiences. The students and the teacher will be conducting a variety of lectures, individual activities, and group laboratory activities to enhance the students' education and lead them on a path of discovery. The ultimate goal is to create a small, personalized community of life long learners that connect school with the community and are prepared to be educated citizens.

In Biology, students study ecology, evolution, cell structure and function, cell chemistry, microbiology, cell division, DNA, and the classification of plants and animals. This course gives students the opportunity to investigate these principles in a laboratory setting. The course is designed to introduce students to the most important concepts in Biology and prepare them for future science courses.
